Today we started to test out Google Classroom in class. Google Classroom is a tool to promote communication and collaboration, turn in work, and take quizzes online. I could post a question and scholars could answer the question, view others' responses, and comment on others' responses. We spoke about online safety and leaving behind a positive digital footprint. Google Classroom is a closed website that only the teacher and students of the teacher can communicate. No one else can join the class or scholars cannot add someone else to the class. Tonight's homework assignment could be completed on Google Classroom or on paper.
Scholars can access Google Classroom through Clever. https://clever.com/in/beverly-hills-unified-sch-dist Clever is another great tool to automatically log scholars into useful websites such as Benchmark Education for any Language Arts books or extra reading books, Code.org, or typing.com. There are also other resources listed for scholars to use at home. Your scholars may also access the G-Suite apps (Google apps) as well. I am so thankful for scholars that want to learn. Thank you for attending the parent conferences. We are thankful for your support! We are starting a new unit in Language Arts. Ask your scholars what topic we are studying.
This past week, we self-evaluated ourselves on the green screen project as a review for our science test. Some results from scholars were some scholars learn well from peer videos, scholars that create the videos for each specific lesson did well on that section of the test, and others felt if their peers that recorded the video did not understand the lesson they presented, the video was difficult to follow. We will continue to use the green screen to create other projects, so please continue to pick up an extra straw at your next Starbucks visit! Time Management...We have discussed time management quite a bit in class. If scholars are feeling they have too much homework, they can reduce the amount of time they can read for the night. Also if there is a study guide given for a test or quiz, this is not optional. These study guides, practice tests, or questions are a part of homework and are included on the homework board and should be written down in the agenda. Homework should be completed every night. I am looking forward to seeing you and your scholars at your scheduled parent conference. |
