College Shirt Day is now on Wednesdays at Horace Mann School! Don't forget to wear your college shirt tomorrow.
The first month and a half of 5th grade has been great! We have had quizzes, tests, and completed the STEM module called Robotics and Automation. Your scholars were asked to share their Launch Log with you. As engineers, they went through the Engineer Design Process to solve a problem. They built a chassis with VEX IQ kits and then had to modify their chassis to move environmental waste to a collection zone. Some photos from over the last three weeks are on this website.
Since Ms. Richardson came in the morning to co-teach STEM, we have not had our normal routine. We are back to our normal routine now and will resume our regular schedule. More math and writing homework can now be assigned. Students should always read 20-30 minutes a night along with their other assigned homework. On Monday, a few tests will come home. Please sign these tests and have your scholars return them to me. We are beginning Water Cycle and Weather in science. We will be using a green screen for this project. If you find yourself at Starbucks in the next few weeks, can you pick up an extra straw? We are going to use these for our project. Your scholars can explain why we would need that specific straw. A few weeks ago, I sent an email with my updated email address. It is [email protected]. Please email me if you have any questions. |
